Alaska Bear Viewing
1-Day Bear Viewing • 7-Day Bear Viewing • 7-Day Bear Viewing and Giant Icebergs
Seeing a brown bear up-close in Alaska's wilderness is considered the ultimate Alaska wildlife viewing and photography experience. Alaskan Bears may be encountered anywhere in Alaska, even in urban areas. Numerous close bear encounters occur every year in Alaskan cities, but nothing compares to visiting one of Alaska's bear viewing wilderness hot-spots where you can often see not just one bear but many within view.
Brown bears or grizzlies are normally solitary animals but when the salmon return to Alaska rivers to spawn, bears will concentrate in a few hot-spots to take advantage of the abundant food source. It is only during these short periods that bears tolerate being close with their own kind. Even then fights often occur as they jostle for the best fishing position.
Wildlife can be unpredictable but Backcountry Safaris Bear Viewing tours can take you to locations where we can almost guarantee that you will encounter not just one bear, but the odds are good that you will see many.

In Sterling, lunch is served at Great Alaska Lodge then we're off to board an small Alaska bush plane for a scenic flight to Lark Clark National Park. - 2 and 3-Day Fly-in Bear Viewing Departing Anchorage, Alaska
This is our most popular Alaska Bear Viewing trip. This trip gives you time to make an intimate connection with the brown bears and to get that once in lifetime bear photo. This is a remote modern private bear viewing camp.
- 7-Day Bear Viewing Savonoski Loop Canoe Adventure
Visit Alaska's world famous Katmai National Park, land of bears and volcanos. Along the Savonoski River there's a large concentration of brown bears. The remoteness that is only accessible by canoe or kayak makes the Savonoski River one of the least visited bear viewing areas in Katmai.
- 7-Day Bear Viewing and Giant Icebergs
If you're looking for a really special Alaska experience this trip combines 2 of our most popular Alaska tours. Enjoy 3 days in Lake Clark National Park at a remote private bear viewing camp and 3 days in Kenai Fjords National Park at Bear Glacier Wilderness Retreat. Bear Glacier offers a maze of giant icebergs to sea kayak around. You're going to have so much fun you're going to want to stay longer.
